About Us

Emily Hillhouse, MA, PhD, Director, Learning Specialist

Emily leads the Student Academic Support team at OHSU. She is available for workshops and academic coaching appointments to help you study more effectively and efficiently. Before coming to OHSU, Emily worked at the University of Texas, Austin where she provided academic coaching and helped create academic support programs to improve retention of first generation students, students on academic probation and students at risk of not graduating in four years. When she is not at work, she’s probably chasing her kids who are chasing her cats who are chasing her in a circle around the house. She also really loves breakfast tacos.

Annae Nichelson, MA, Learning Specialist

Annae is an OHSU Student Learning Support Specialist. She will work with you to develop personalized tools and approaches so that you can decrease stress, improve your study strategies, and develop goals to help you succeed. She is available remotely or in-person (in Portland) for one-on-one academic coaching sessions as well as workshops. Before coming to OHSU, Annae was an instructor and advisor at Portland Community College and Portland State University. She has an M.A.(TESOL) from the University of Washington and has lived abroad in Spain and Japan. She loves being outside in nature with her family, reading cookbooks, and watching football.
