Department of Surgery global health opportunities

The OHSU Department of Surgery doesn't give global surgery certificates, but our training program includes opportunities for residents interested in rural and international medicine.

Residents accepted for a research year are eligible to take part in medical outreach travel to Haiti, where we have long-standing relationships.

Research residents have pursued master's degrees in public health in South Africa and returned to focus on practices in rural surgery.

Our residents have participated with the Global Alliance and in one-month activities in Tanzania. Residents pay their own costs; scholarships are available.
