Individual school hooding and pinning ceremonies immediately follow the commencement ceremony

Commencement will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 5. Click on the iCal link above to add this important event to your calendar.

For those attending in person: there is parking on-site at OCC, but it can get full during large events such as this. You can also find alternative parking in the local area. You can learn more about services offered by OCC below:

2026 Commencement schedule

11 a.m.: Faculty Appreciation Brunch with remarks by Dr. Elnahal, OHSU President, and Dr. Chisholm-Burns, Executive Vice President and Provost. Held in Pre-function Lobby A.

Noon:  Commencement robing

  • Platform party - Location: A rooms 103 and 104
  • Faculty - Location: A rooms 105 and 106
  • All Graduates - Exhibition Hall A1

1-2:30 p.m.: Commencement ceremony; Emceed by Marie Chisholm-Burns, Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., FCCP, FASHP, FAST, FNAP, FACHE. Held in Exhibit Hall C and D.

Commencement program:

  • Processional – Sir James McDonald Pipe Band
  • Opening remarks – Dr. Marie Chisholm-Burns, Provost and Executive Vice President
  • Welcome Address – Shereef Elnahal, M.D., M.B.A., OHSU President
  • Message from Board of Directors – Susan King, M.S., RN, CEN, FAAN, Chair
  • Greetings from Faculty Senate – Erin Madriago, M.D., FASE, Senate President
  • Message from All-Hill Student Council – Sofiya Yusova, Ph. D. student and Student Council President
  • Keynote Speaker – Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, Ph.D., M.B.A., RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, President, American Nurses Association and Assistant Clinical Professor, OHSU
  • Conferring of Degrees – Dr. Shereef Elnahal, President
  • Closing Remarks – Dr. Marie Chisholm-Burns, Provost and Executive Vice President
  • Recessional – Sir James McDonald Pipe Band

At the end of Commencement, families and guests will immediately move to hooding ceremony locations as faculty and students move to their respective line-up locations.

2:30 p.m.: OSU/OHSU College of Pharmacy Pharm.D. reception - held in C rooms 123-124.

3-4:30 p.m.: School hooding ceremonies

  • School of Dentistry hooding ceremony - Exhibit Hall B. Faculty and Student line up: B rooms 117-119.
  • School of Medicine – Doctor of Medicine hooding ceremony - Portland Ballroom (251-254). Faculty line up: PDX ballroom lobby; student line up: PDX ballroom (rooms 255-256).
  • School of Medicine - graduate studies hooding and completion ceremony - Exhibit Hall E. Faculty and student line up: E rooms 141-144.
  • School of Nursing hooding and pinning ceremony - Oregon Ballroom (202-204). Faculty and student line-up: Room 201, Oregon Ballroom
  • OHSU-PSU School of Public Health hooding ceremony - Exhibit Hall A. Faculty and student line-up: A rooms 107-109.

4:30-5:30 p.m.: Receptions
