Getting to OHSU during I-5 construction

A photo shows a sweeping dusk view of Southeast Portland where Interstate 5 runs between the Moda Center and the Oregon Convention Center.
Southbound lanes of Interstate 5 through the Rose Quarter will close Sept. 11 for up to five weeks, delaying traffic throughout the area.

All lanes of Interstate 5 southbound between I-405 and I-84 will be closed for up to five weeks starting Sept. 11, causing major traffic delays across the Portland area.

Patients, students, visitors and volunteers should plan extra travel time to OHSU.

We know travel may take longer. Our teams are working to help patients continue getting care during this time.

Keep your appointment

OHSU is not canceling or rescheduling appointments because of the I-5 construction. Please give yourself enough time to keep your appointment.

 Plan for traffic delays

Travel across the Portland area will be challenging with traffic moving off I-5 and onto city streets. To help you arrive on time for your appointment:

  • Leave early.
  • Check traffic before you go.
  • Consider routes that avoid I-5 if possible.
  • Consider using public transit like C-TRAN, TriMet buses, MAX Light Rail or the Portland Streetcar.
  • Sign up for traffic alerts.

When to contact your clinic

Contact your clinic if you think you may arrive late. Care teams will do their best to work with you to keep your scheduled care.
