Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.

  1. I think I must have caught Dr. Ohri on a bad day. I had several medical concerns which were fairly impactful. I made some notes re: my concerns/symptoms, at first for myself so I wouldn't forget anything, but then decided to send them to her, in case that would be helpful for my upcoming app't. She said she received those notes. (The listed symptoms weren't constant, but come & go, treated most of the time with Tylenol, but other times very painful). The exam consisted mostly of her confirming I had declined referral to the pain clinic (I had, because the temp doc who saw me before Dr. Ohri had asked if I want to be referred to the pain clinic or see Dr, Ohri. I wanted to see Dr. Ohri first, so she could perhaps determine what was causing the pain.) At this app't Dr. Ohri Seemed unhappy I had declined referral to the pain clinic. At the app't, she hardly discussed any of my symptoms, and did no physical exam, even of my neck which was swollen & painful on that day. Fairly soon she turned to me and asked "What do you want to get from this app't?" I was a bit taken aback, but responded I'd like to know what's causing these symptoms, and if any are serious, or need medical attention. She said there's no way to know the cause, it could be stress or dehydration, and she encouraged me to make sure I'm hydrating properly. She said none of them are anything to worry about, and are not serious. She said only come back if the pain in my head is so bad, that nothing controls it. She concluded the app't telling me to make an app't with her assistant for an annual exam next fall. It all happened pretty quickly, in a bit of a whirlwind. I decided if she's not worried, I shouldn't worry (even though I knew my symptoms are real & she hadn't explored them at all), but over the following hours/days the symptoms remained, and I didn't know what to do but just try to not make them worse.I've learned to mitigate my activity to avoid problems with some symptoms (not lift things, etc.) Others persist, such as occasional numbness in my left leg. That came to mind a few weeks ago when I tripped over my own feet and fell, badly fracturing my left wrist (ER & surgery records in Pendleton, where it happened). I don't blame Dr. Ohri (or anyone else) for my fall, but I do feel she could have taken that, and my other concerns, seriously. My left leg sometimes still has a mild feeling of numbness. I like Dr. Ohri. My experiences with her in the past have always been very positive, but this time, well, it must have been a hard day.

  2. I really like the doctor, it's just that she was at least 10-15 minutes late to see me and didn't offer any apology or reason as to why she was late. Otherwise I found her to be engaging & warm and would listen & answer my questions.
