About me

Rachel Rushing, LCSW is a team member of OHSU’s Outpatient Neurology team. Rachel obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa, and her Master’s in Social Work at St. Louis University. Her education mainly focused on aging, chronic disease management, and palliative care. Rachel has been practicing as a licensed clinical social worker for nearly 20 years, primarily focused on the older adult population—adjustment to disease, caregiver burnout, Medicare/Medicaid and social security/disability challenges, long-term care, and hospice and end of life. She previously worked for OHSU’s Inpatient Care Management team, where she was the social worker for the neurology floors within the hospital. She strives to ensure that patients and their families have the tools and resources needed to be as successful as possible, even amongst health challenges.

Rachel has resided in the Portland area for the past 18 years. She enjoys hiking, riding her new electric bike, and watching football. If you asked her two teenagers how they would describe her, they would undoubtedly tell you to watch out on April Fool’s Day. That is Rachel’s favorite holiday, a prankster at heart, always looking to make people smile and laugh.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
