About me

I am an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN) who treats women with cancer of the reproductive system. As a physician-scientist, my mission is to bring the most advanced cancer care to patients in a way that’s personal, precise and hopeful.

I serve as the Director of Precision Oncology and the SMMART Trials at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, where I lead efforts to tailor cancer treatment to the unique biology of each person’s tumor.

I earned both my M.D. and Ph.D. in biochemistry and completed my training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alberta. Before joining OHSU, I spent many years at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, where I held several leadership roles and worked alongside some of the world’s top cancer researchers.

Here at OHSU, my team and I use cutting-edge tools—like tumor DNA testing and liquid biopsies—to understand how each patient’s cancer changes over time. This helps us adjust treatments in real time and stay one step ahead of the disease. I believe that every patient’s tumor can teach us something important, and that those insights help shape better treatments for everyone.

Over my career, I’ve authored more than 1,000 scientific papers, hold over 20 patents, and have been honored with several national awards for scientific excellence and mentorship. Supporting the next generation of cancer researchers is one of my greatest joys, and I’m proud that many of my former trainees are now leaders in the field.

Ultimately, my goal is to give every patient the best possible chance—not just by treating their cancer, but by listening, learning, and continuing to push the science forward.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.
