About me

"Crohn’s and colitis affect everyone differently and there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to these conditions. I enjoy getting to know my patients in order to treat the whole person."

Dr. Sofia was inspired to care for people with inflammatory bowel disease by the family of a young child with colitis he met while in medical school. He went on to complete his training with a special focus on Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr. Sofia is passionate about forming personal connections with the people he meets in clinic, and he believes that shared decision making is essential to providing safe and effective treatment options.

Dr. Sofia enjoys spending time with his family in the beautiful parks around town, honing his novice gardening skills, and reading a diverse range of authors.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.
