Taylor Friesen is a certified nurse-midwife. She began her career as a strength and conditioning coach for an NCAA Division I women's basketball team after earning her B.S. in exercise physiology. Throughout her first pregnancy, she developed an insatiable desire to research all things birth-related, which resulted in a passion for birth work. She had a midwife-attended birth and quickly knew she wanted to provide others with the same quality care she received. She tiptoed into midwifery, teaching childbirth education classes while preparing for midwifery school.

Upon graduating with her M.S.N, Taylor worked at a birth center where she gained a deep understanding of physiologic birth, which she brings into the academic hospital setting. She believes that birth is a transformative experience and that, regardless of how it unfolds, the way a person is made to feel during their prenatal, birth, and postpartum experiences truly shapes their entrance into parenthood and the rest of their life.

Taylor provides holistic, patient-centered care to people of all ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds, integrating family support and evidence-based practice into midwifery care.

Taylor was raised on the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, of which she is a descendant. When she is not practicing midwifery, Taylor enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband and two kids, learning to play guitar, reading, writing, road biking and gardening.
