About me

Sam grew up in Palo Alto, CA and attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate. There, he studied Economics, completing research in health insurance and maternal health disparities, and worked as a student radio host and an EMT on an ambulance in Oakland. Before medical school, Sam worked as an analyst at a litigation consulting firm in London and a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley before dedicating his life to medicine and decreasing the gender inequities he saw in healthcare and the workplace. While attending the Keck School of Medicine at USC, Sam served as a Gehr Healthcare Innovation Fellow and president of several healthcare policy and reproductive rights advocacy groups. Sam is a strong advocate for patients' right to choice and the fair distribution of healthcare resources. His current research interests involve new infertility treatments, preventing obstetric complications and cost analyses of surgical and fertility care. Outside the hospital, Sam loves backpacking, podcasts, basketball and spending time at the beach with his partner Geordyn and their dog Phoebe.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.
