About me

Dr. Mortuma Murry specializes in providing a safe and successful transition from pediatric to adult care through effective preparation, education and development of children with complex health issues and rare medical problems. He believes that planning, early engagement and teamwork are key to a successful transition, and that transition is an integral part of a child’s health.

Dr. Murry developed a passion for pediatrics and specializes in sickle cell and other heritable, hemoglobin-related blood disorders[MG1]  as well as oncology (cancer) as a result of his life experiences. He was adopted from Liberia, West Africa, in 1997. Growing up during a civil war in a third-world country, he saw a lot of sickness, pain and death, contributing to his passion for healing and medicine. Having a family affected by a blood disorder has given Dr. Murry a unique perspective on life.

Outside of work, Dr. Murry and his wife, an accountant, spend much of their time outdoors gardening, hiking, camping and traveling with their three kids. Dr. Murry also enjoys hunting, fishing, beekeeping, koi and chicken breeding, and woodworking. When home, he can often be found building something or tending to some plant or animal with his kids. Dr. Murry and his son tend to be the most willing to get their hands dirty on the Mini-Murry Farm.
