About me
*Always accepting pregnant patients.*
Austin Garrett McCauley is a family medicine doctor who provides primary care for adults and children.
They specialize in:
- Gender-affirming care
- Sexual and reproductive care
- Adolescent medicine
- Gender incongruence/dysphoria
- HIV & PrEP/PEP
- Migraines
Austin believes in building doctor-patient relationships that give patients control over their care and power in their communities. They try to address injustices in health systems and community policy. They say of their approach to patient care:
"I believe that medicine can be a field that promotes social justice for marginalized communities while recognizing that it often harms those communities and traumatizes people who need care instead.”
“Family medicine is a specialty that was founded with social justice and relationship-building as its center rather than specific organ systems and diseases, and once I realized that and how my passions in medicine fit within it, I never looked back."
Outside of work, Austin enjoys road biking up and down the Willamette River, tabletop gaming, learning about Portland's history, community activism, and curling up on the couch with their cats.
