Dr. Hatfield’s clinical practice includes the whole spectrum of ob/gyn care, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery. Her favorite part of her work is having time to be present with patients. She strives to make time to listen to their stories, learn from their insights, and to partner with them in finding solutions to meet their needs.
She grew up in Berkeley, California and was there for undergraduate education. After a few years spent assisting environmental science research and education in beautiful parts of the world, she attended medical school, and then residency in ob/gyn. She chose OHSU because she wanted the opportunity to teach future health care providers, and wanted to be involved in leading edge medicine.
Dr. Hatfield has been at OHSU for several years and has loved getting to know and care for the thoughtful and informed patients who come to the Center for Women’s Health. She really enjoys reviewing all options for managing clinical problems, and coming to a decision with her patient in a collaborative way. For this reason, she helped establish the Center for Women’s Health Fibroid program. The program offers women with symptomatic fibroids an opportunity to have their case reviewed by a multidisciplinary team, followed by an appointment with Dr. Hatfield to review all possible management strategies.Read more

I saw Dr. Liberty, she was thorough and provided very clear information/education on what was happening. She was also able to confirm a previous diagnosis. Looking forward to seeing her again.

Clearly explains what she is doing, asks questions, and of course asks if I had any questions.

She gave me abundance amount of time to ask questions, come up with answers, was willing to go ahead and give me all the time that I needed to make the right decision for my benefit as well as what was going to be the most successful decision for my life and my health. And that's really important.

Dr. Hatfield has a wonderful bed side manner. She is attentive, kind, listens well, explains well, doesn’t rush through and is very thorough. She has been able to identify a medical problem I was having that my previous doctors were not. She was willing to fit me into her schedule when I came in to the hospital sick.My surgery went very well...I rate her high!

Yes, I went to Joanna Hatfield for a pre-surgical appointment. She was excellent and I would highly recommend her. I have not done surgery with her yet so I cannot see how she does with surgery but she definitely has...it was a wonderful appointment, and I'm really thankful for it. Thank you. Bye. Bye.
