About me

Dr Clements' interest in medicine as a career path developed through high school and college. He had always been interested in the sciences and had a passion that he wanted to help people throughout his life. Those two interests combined when he entered medical school at the University of Nebraska. During medical school he gravitated towards fields where he could get to know his patients and think broadly about complex problems. He pursed these interests through a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was invited to spend an additional year as a chief resident for the Internal Medicine department at the University of Utah and further developed his love of teaching this craft to medical students and residents.

He came to OHSU in 2012 as an Internal Medicine hospitalist and has developed a love for this place.  He is constantly reminded of the great group of people (doctors, nurses, technicians, housekeepers, etc.) who are dedicating their lives to helping our patients every day and is proud to be among them. He is involved in teaching, in medical school classes, resident lectures, and on the wards with students and residents which is an activity that brings agreat amount of energy to his practice. His overarching theme is gratefulness for the opportunities this career has given to him. He feels he is able to spend his days helping other people who are in need and passing on these skills to students and residents so that they can provide great care to the patients of tomorrow.  He has become a strong advocate for the wellness of providers so that they are equipped to bring their best selves into work everyday with the aim of delivering compassionate care to each patient.
