She grew up in Tampa, Florida and attending undergraduate and medical school at Brown University. While in medical school she spent two years at National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland as part of the Clinical Research Training Program working on clinical and translational research in Radiation Oncology.
