Earn your Baccalaureate degree at the OHSU School of Nursing

Develop leadership skills through engagement in evidence-based learning and interprofessional education and practice. Baccalaureate degree programs focus on the development of critical thinking and judgment, understanding of health systems and leadership, interdisciplinary care, public health and communications in:

  • Communities (schools, community service agencies, health clinics, homes)
  • Outpatient and transitional care clinics
  • Hospitals (critical care, medical surgical units, operating rooms, emergency departments)
  • Research labs

We offer robust clinical experiences in diverse settings and community placements in unique medical centers. Study at one of five regional campuses statewide (PortlandAshlandMonmouth, Klamath Falls and La Grande) or online with our three online degree programs.

Programs

Bachelor of Science Degree
The Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing program prepares graduates to practice in a variety of settings and to care for individuals, families and populations across the lifespan. Graduates achieve competencies that address the rapidly changing health care needs of Oregon's aging and ethnically diverse populations and are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination. Students applying to the B.S. program are asked to designate their choice for application to one of five OHSU School of Nursing locations throughout the state. This program is offered full-time and takes 3 years (9 terms) to complete.

Online RN to BS Degree
The Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science (RN to BS) with a major in nursing 100% online program is convenient, supportive, flexible and affordable. Students will join recent nursing graduates and experienced licensed nurses in our virtual classroom.  Here you will acquire the knowledge needed to transition from skill-based competencies to understanding health policy, population health, and nursing leadership and develop the ability to make complex decisions improving patient outcomes and meeting the need for professional nurses trained to shape the future of healthcare.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree
The A.B.S. program is designed to allow those students who currently have or will have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major other than nursing to take the nursing courses required to get a B.S. with a major in nursing. Students applying to the A.B.S. program are asked to designate their choice for application to either the Portland or Ashland campus. This program is offered full-time and takes 15 months (5 terms) to complete.

Dual admissions options

RN to BS to Master’s
The School of Nursing offers an RN to BS to Master's in Nursing Education (MNE).  This option allows students to pre-identify their graduate area of interest when they enter the RN to BS program and proceed seamlessly from enrollment in the RN to BS program after completing the baccalaureate degree to enrolling in the Nursing Education program. Completing the baccalaureate degree full-time in the RN to BS program takes 9 months (3 terms). Completing the master's in nursing degree takes 18 months (7 terms). 

Accelerated Bachelor's to D.N.P.
Earn your bachelor of science with a major in nursing degree in 15 months and transition directly to the 3-year D.N.P. in nursing program in one of our four advanced practice specialty areas.

Accelerated Bachelor's to Ph.D.
Earn your bachelor of science with a major in nursing degree in 15 months and transition directly to the Ph.D. in nursing program.
