Earn your Baccalaureate degree at the OHSU School of Nursing

Develop leadership skills through engagement in evidence-based learning and interprofessional education and practice. Baccalaureate degree programs focus on the development of critical thinking and judgment, understanding of health systems and leadership, interdisciplinary care, public health and communications in:

  • Communities (schools, community service agencies, health clinics, homes)
  • Outpatient and transitional care clinics
  • Hospitals (critical care, medical surgical units, operating rooms, emergency departments)
  • Research labs

We offer robust clinical experiences in diverse settings and community placements in unique medical centers. Study at 1 of 5 regional campuses statewide (PortlandAshlandMonmouth, Klamath Falls and La Grande)

Programs

Bachelor of Science Degree
The Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing program prepares graduates to practice in a variety of settings and to care for individuals, families and populations across the lifespan. Graduates achieve competencies that address the rapidly changing health care needs of Oregon's aging and ethnically diverse populations and are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination. Students applying to the B.S. program are asked to designate their choice for application to one of five OHSU School of Nursing locations throughout the state. This program is offered full time and takes 3 years (9 terms) to complete.

Online RNBS Completion 
The Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science (RNBS) with a major in nursing program prepares graduates to practice in a variety of settings and to care for individuals, families and populations across the lifespan. Graduates achieve competencies that address the rapidly changing health care needs of all Oregonians. This online program is designed for RNs who have completed their associate degree in nursing at OCNE partner community colleges or at non-OCNE community colleges. We accept students from across the state of Oregon, and this program is offered both full time and part time online.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree
The A.B.S. program is designed to allow those students who currently have or will have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major other than nursing to take the nursing courses required to get the B.S. with a major in nursing. Students applying to the A.B.S. program are asked to designate their choice for application to either the Portland or Ashland campus. This program is offered full time and takes 15 months (5 terms) to complete.

Dual admissions options

RNBS to Master’s
The School of Nursing offers an RNBS to Master's in Nursing Education (MNE).  This option allows students to pre-identify their graduate area of interest when they enter the RNBS program and  proceed seamlessly from enrollment in the RNBS program after completion of the baccalaureate degree to enrolling in the Nrusing Education program. Completion of the baccalaureate degree full time in the RNBS program takes 9 months (3 terms). Completion of the master's in nursing degree takes 18 months (7 terms). 

Accelerated Bachelor's to DNP
Earn your bachelor of science with a major in nursing degree in 15 months and transition directly to the 3 year DNP in nursing program in one of our 4 advanced practice specialty areas.

Accelerated Bachelor's to PhD
Earn your bachelor of science with a major in nursing degree in 15 months and transition directly to the PhD in nursing program.
