Frequently Asked Questions: Undergraduate Programs

Can I have my transcripts evaluated by the Admissions Office?
Unfortunately, due to our high volume of applicants, we are unable to provide individual transcript evaluations. If you have questions or concerns regarding specific courses, you are welcome to send us your course descriptions with their course code and names of institutions they were taken at. Please indicate which requirement you are looking to fulfill with which course. Email course inquiries to proginfo@ohsu.edu.

Where do I send my transcripts?
All applicants will need to send transcripts directly from their college to Nursing CAS: NursingCAS. P.O. Box 9201, Watertown, MA 02471. Any transcripts sent directly to the OHSU Admissions Office while applications are open, will not be accepted. Instructions on how to send your transcripts to NCAS are available here

Where can I find a list of prerequisite requirements?
Each program’s list of prerequisites can be found on the Application Instructions page.

Does OHSU School of Nursing accept online courses/ labs?
OHSU School of Nursing will accept online courses/ labs as long as they are from an accredited institution and cover all topics listed in our example course descriptions (located in the Application Instruction PDFs).

How do I upload my prerequisite course descriptions to my application?
All applicants must copy and paste their prerequisite course descriptions from the course syllabus or catalog to the Nursing CAS application where indicated in the questions section.

What if my Anatomy and Physiology series includes two classes instead of three?
As long as you have completed the full Anatomy and Physiology series, it should suffice. Some institutions offer the series in three parts (quarters), and some only offer two (semesters). If you are unsure if your series will work, please email proginfo@ohsu.edu the course descriptions.

If I have retaken Anatomy and Physiology, which grade will you use in the GPA calculation?
A&P courses can only be taken twice within the last 7 years. If you have taken the class more than 2 times in the last 7 years, your 2nd course grade will be used. All prerequisites must be taken for a “B-“ or higher for the accelerated bachelors program and a “C-” or higher for the three year program.

If I have a prerequisite with a grade lower than what OHSU requires, can I retake the course?
OHSU considers grades taken through the fall term of each application year. For a retaken grade to be considered it must be complete by the end of fall term. For example, if you are applying to the Accelerated Bachelors program for fall 2018 start and have a C in nutrition, you must have retaken nutrition by the end of fall 2017 term for a B- or better. This applies to the 3 year program, Accelerated Bachelors and Accelerated Bachelors to Graduate. If you have specific questions about your coursework or situation please contact the Admissions Office.

Can I submit letters of recommendation or a resume with my application?
No. For the accelerated bachelors and three year bachelors programs, we will not review or consider any letters of recommendation or resumes. For a list of application requirements please visit our application instructions.

How do admissions interviews work?
Our undergraduate programs (excluding the RNBS program) interview a select number of applicants each year. Interviews will take place via Kira Talent using an asynchronous assessment. You will be asked to submit timed video and/or written responses to questions that have been pre-recorded by OHSU School of Nursing.

When will I hear of an admissions decision?
After applications are due, all applications will be processed and reviewed. Once review of applications are completed, interview invitations will be sent out. A few weeks after all interviews have concluded, all applicants will be notified of a final admission decision.
