About me

Dr. Michael Regner is an adult and pediatric neuroradiologist, and serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology, OHSU School of Medicine.  He completed undergraduate and medical school at the University of Wisconsin−Madison as a member of the highly competitive Medical Scholars Program.  He completed internship in internal medicine and residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Colorado−Denver, during which time he pursued graduate studies in advanced neuroimaging techniques using quantitative morphometry and fMRI.  Dr. Regner completed a two-year neuroradiology fellowship at the University of California−San Francisco (UCSF) and San Francisco VA Medical Center, where he served for one year as clinical instructor.  At UCSF, he spent extensive time mastering CT-guided spine procedures, and dedicated time during his second year of fellowship focusing on pediatric neuroradiology and fetal MRI.

Dr. Regner is active in the missions of clinical patient care, medical educational, and research.  He serves as OHSU Director of Fetal Neuroradiology, and oversees fetal MRI of the brain, spine, head and neck. As a teacher, Dr. Regner is passionate about teaching learners at all levels, including medical students, interns, residents, and fellows. He was recognized as “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” by the OHSU radiology residency program in 2023.  As a clinical scientist, Dr. Regner has 17 years of research experience spanning numerous clinical and basic science investigations, ranging from laryngeal anatomy, phonation, brain morphometry, functional neuroimaging, presurgical mapping, psychiatric illness, and sex disparities in neuroimaging research.  His current scholarly interests include fetal brain development, congenital malformations, and perfusion imaging of the brain, head, and neck using ferumoxytol iron nanoparticles.

Dr. Regner is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Neuroradiology.  He is licensed to practice in the states of Oregon and California, and currently holds attending faculty positions at OHSU Hospital and Clinics, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the Portland VA Medical Center.
