About me

Dr. Lee was born and raised in Oregon, and uses he/him/his pronouns. After growing up in the rainy embrace of the Pacific Northwest, he spent time studying in North Carolina and working in Washington D.C., before joining the U.S. Peace Corps and working in community health for two years in a small village in Peru. He was then thrilled to return to Oregon for medical school. While there, he grew his passion and commitment to better understanding and working to improve the broad social and political issues that affect health, along with deepening his curiosity about people and what makes them tick.

This past work and study have shown Dr. Lee that a person's health is impacted by their life experiences and circumstances. This includes (but isn't limited to) access to housing, food, purpose, and supportive relationships, as well as the effects of trauma, discrimination, and inequity. Dr. Lee finds it an honor and privilege to be invited into people's lives, hear their stories, and serve them and their families. He loves family medicine because it's a specialty that allows him to care for the comprehensive needs of a diverse and full spectrum of people. He is particularly passionate about substance use disorder care, mental and behavioral health, transgender care, family planning and women's health, care for individuals experiencing houselessness, chronic pain, rural health, and palliative care. He is amazed and grateful to be in a position of service to the Portland community and his fellow Oregonians.

In his free time, Dr. Lee likes to be outside with his rambunctious and adorable dog, explore coffee shops and restaurants around Portland, travel to new places, cook food, read fiction, and spend time with family and friends.
