About me

Whitney Elg-Salsman is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in the Rheumatology department. She is originally from Anchorage, AK and received her medical degree from Touro University in Henderson, NV. Whitney completed internal medicine residency locally at Oregon Health & Science University and recently completed her rheumatology fellowship and master's degree in clinical research at the Medical University of South Carolina. Whitney's main research interest is investigating the pathogenesis and clinical risk factors for development of rheumatic adverse events from cancer immune checkpoint inhibitors. Her clinical interests also include Lupus and Systemic Sclerosis. In her spare time Whitney enjoys spending time with her two young sons and new French Bulldog puppy, Cricket. She also likes exploring the pacific northwest coast, hiking and reading.

  2. Dr. Elg-Salsman had clearly studied more than half a decade of my medical history before she ever walked in the room. She made me feel much better about a complex and somewhat frightening medical situation -- She was extremely attentive, compassionate, and ordered all of the appropriate tests. When some of the tests came back with abnormal results the next day, she sent me a message with an explanation and instructions for treatment in Mychart before the day was even over. This was my best-ever experience with a rheumatologist and I'm very relieved to have her as my doctor.
