About me
I am a fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon specializing in treating adults with thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal diseases.
I provide minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) adrenalectomies through both transabdominal and retroperitoneal approaches. I also perform thyroidectomies and parathyroidectomies. I perform in-office ultrasounds, fine needle aspiration biopsies and thermal ablation for thyroid nodules.
I enjoy helping patients better understand their disease process and deciding on the best treatment through patient-centered and multi-disciplinary discussions.

Excellent!
I will always recommend OHSU
Dr. Hsu was easy going and candid. I laid out the relevant pros and cons for choices about my upcoming surgery and answered all my questions in a meaningful way. His obvious dedication to his practice and subject matter gave me confidence about my choices and my upcoming surgery.
I felt seen, heard and cared about by the physician and all parties involved throughout the service. Dr Hsu was even courteous enough to apologize and tell me he was a little late due to a meeting. I only wish other establishments could follow your lead.
Dr Shu has wonderful "bed side manner" and made me feel very comfortable as he discussed my treatment plan, as he took another biopsy, (told me I was doing great and to just breathe). He was patient with my questions, thorough, and I never felt rushed.
The doctor was extremely kind, respectful, and very professional.l had a great experience.

He made sure that I understood what he was saying, he has an easy and friendly way about him, and a way of making me feel really comfortable with him as my surgeon. Answered all my questions, and just seemed like a very caring fellow. Great physician and a great representative of OHSU.
My surgeon was very diligent in addressing my malfunctioning parathyroid gland. Due to unrelated thyroid disease, he had challenges locating the rice grain size gland, but with additional isotope imaging was successful in finding and removing the malfunctioning gland. He spent extra time explaining to me these challenges and actions he took. Recovery was nearly painless and without complications.
