About me

I am a fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon specializing in treating adults with thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal diseases.

I provide minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) adrenalectomies through both transabdominal and retroperitoneal approaches. I also perform thyroidectomies and parathyroidectomies. I perform in-office ultrasounds, fine needle aspiration biopsies and thermal ablation for thyroid nodules.

I enjoy helping patients better understand their disease process and deciding on the best treatment through patient-centered and multi-disciplinary discussions.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.

  11. Terrific doc! Friendly, kind, reassuring. He took time to discuss options w me before starting. He told me what he was doing and how it would feel each step of the procedure. Can't recommend highly enough.

  12. Dr Hsu had a calm, friendly demeanor. He took plenty of time with me. I didn't feel rushed and he answered my questions in a way I could understand. He performed a biopsy on my thyroid nodule without any additional staff in the room. He was very efficient and professional.

  13. He was concerned for me and my health.

  14. Very professional

  15. I was really impressed with this doctor. He explained what my surgical and non surgical options are and the risks and benefits to each. I went in determined to have RFA over thyroid removal but left really understanding why RFA might not be the best option for me, but he also said it's not off the table. It showed he listened and cared about my concerns going straight to removing my thyroid. He also didn't make me feel rushed and answered all my questions. I have several chronic conditions so I see a lot of doctors and I can honestly say that this doctor is one of the best I've seen. I really felt heard and listened to and left confident in his assessment. Highly recommend!
