About me

My roots are deeply imbedded in the Portland community, and it is an honor to have the opportunity to serve a community that has given me so much. As a Portland native, I know the importance of mobility for fellow Oregonians. We are surrounded by remarkable landscapes that pull you into them. Whether you have your sights set on summiting South Sister, or you would like to walk to the grocery store without hip or knee discomfort, my objective is to help you reach your personal health goals.

My role as a surgeon is to empower patients to take ownership of their own care through a guided treatment plan that best fits their values, be that through surgery or non-operative care.  I understand that each of my patients is unique, and with that they bring their own particular aspirations for their health.

I provide care to patients with hip and knee arthritis; non-operative care, partial knee replacement and total knee and hip replacement surgery. For certain types of knee replacement surgery, I use the CORI Surgical System, an advanced robotic technology. Additionally, I am a specialist in the field of Hip Preservation surgery - treating adolescent and young adults with hip dysplasia or other congenital and acquired disorders of the hip.

In my free time I am an enthusiastic albeit mediocre snowboarder and surfer. I am a proud 2-time greater Portland soccer district, and softball city league champion.  I enjoy spending time with my adventurous wife and our two wild dogs camping, hiking, and biking.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
