About me

Dr. Brian Garvey is a family physician that also specializes in preventive medicine. He believes that a holistic approach to medicine is vital to people's health and wellness. For this reason, he is committed to leaving time in the patient-doctor relationship for stories and humor. He is especially grateful to be able to care for children and multiple generations of the same family. He enjoys speaking conversational Spanish with his patients.

Dr. Garvey is an Oregon native, a lifelong Blazers fan, and the proud father of two children. In addition to clinical medicine, he is an active researcher and educator in OHSU’s Department of Family Medicine.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.

  1. Dr Garvey is the best. Knowledgeable, caring.

  2. The doctors and nurses actually take the time to discuss and listen to patients concerns.

  3. Dr. Garvey is professional, kind. He is clearly very perceptive, and intelligent. He takes care in his explanations, he is very receptive and patient with any questions. He's truly the best doctor my family and I have received care from.

  4. I absolutely loved Dr. Garvey. He got me the correct prescription after going through others who prescribed the wrong med. He was extremely polite and thorough. Answered all my questions. I wish he was my primary.

  5. Dr. Garvey addressed my questions and concerns and worked with me on an action plan, allowing me to provide my input towards achieving goals. He is very good at explaining concerns and ramifications if I don't make some changes and then makes recommendations and alternative ways for reaching my goals. He makes this process comfortable, and I feel he really listens to me. I got my lab results back quickly, and via MyChart, he summarized what results were good, what needed improving, and next steps.

  11. Dr.Garvey is great.

  12. Dr Garvey is an excellent family doctor. I could easily see other members of my family going to see him as their general doctor if availability allowed for it.
