About me

I am a neurologist with a special focus on aging and Alzheimer’s disease. I treat a wide range of neurological conditions, including:

My goal is to help patients manage these complex conditions with thoughtful, personalized care.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that no two patients experience neurological disease the same way. As one of my mentors once said, “When you’ve seen one case of Alzheimer’s, you’ve seen one case of Alzheimer’s.” I take that to heart.

I approach every patient as an individual, working to understand the unique ways their symptoms show up and affect their life. I also stay committed to bringing promising new Alzheimer’s therapies to Oregon, and I’m excited about the advances we’re seeing.

My path to OHSU started in Boston, where I completed most of my medical education and training. I came to OHSU for a fellowship in geriatric neurology and have been here ever since—first as a fellow, then as a faculty member. Alongside my clinical work, I’ve been deeply involved in medical education, first helping lead the neurology clerkship and now serving as the neurology residency program director.

When I’m not in the clinic, you can usually find me spending time with my family, reading a good novel (especially science fiction) or working on home improvement projects.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.
