About me

Steve received a B.S. in oceanography and chemistry from the University of Washington. Following this he worked for a short while as an Oceanographer studying nitrogen cycling in deep sea sediments. He completed medical school as part of the Brown University and Dartmouth University combined program. He completed his residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Brown University in Providence, RI. Steven completed a National Library of Medicine Fellowship in Biomedical Informatics and an M.S. in Biomedical Informatics at OHSU.  Steve is interested in general internal medicine and particularly how health information technology can improve outcomes, provider efficiency and patient engagement. Steve also serves as the Associate Chief Health Information Officer at OHSU. Additionally, he is a faculty member in the Dept. of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology at OHSU where he does research as well as teaching both graduate students and clinical informatics fellows. When Steve is not at work he can usually be found spending time with his wife and two young children or kiteboarding somewhere along the Columbia Gorge.
