About me
Dr. Shazib Haq, grew up in Southern California, spending a few years in the UK as well. He attended UC Davis and graduated with a BS in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. He then attended UC Berkeley School of Optometry for his doctorate degree. Next, Dr. Haq completed a one year residency at the Baltimore VA, where he gained significant experience managing eye disease. He also had the opportunity to rotate through subspecialties at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, gaining experience in the cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, and retina services. Following this experience, he added on a second post-graduate year of training, something that few optometrists do at the Casey Eye Institute specializing in Medical Contact Lenses.
From these unique experiences, Dr. Haq is well-versed in ocular disease and practices full-scope medical optometry. He sees patients with a variety of conditions, for vison and medical eye exams, as well as fitting standard and medical contact lenses. He also sees pediatric patients, and can perform myopia management care.
Dr. Haq lives with his wife and their dog in Portland. He loves to try new restaurants and hiking trails and would love your recommendations!

Love Casey Eye Institute in Astoria
Dr Haq was excellent. Very clear and communicative.
Thorough exam. Excellent explanation . I felt very confident with his opinion. Gave clear information about follow-up ,etc.
Dr Haq seemed a little impatient with my questions, but I think that was only because the office had fit me into the schedule which created the need to move quickly. I found him to be very knowledgeable and likable despite.
Dr Haq is great. Hang on to him.
He treats me with respect and answers my questions. He knows my eye problems and also keeps in touch with other Casey doctor.
Dr Haq is simply the best
He is very competent and a pleasure to deal with.
Very helpful
Very through, answered all my questions, addressed all my issues.
Seemed knowledgeable.
Very thorough, thoughtful and personable.
Dr. Haq is excellent. The entire staff are great.
Dr. Haq was very attentive and friendly to my daughter. He was patient, interactive, and informative. We will be seeing him again for future visits.
Really liked the doctor, felt he listened to me & addressed all my concerns, even though he was way behind schedule because of a couple emergencies that had happened before my appointment. He didnt rush me & explained what was going on with my eye issue.
Very informative and provides clear explanations of my exam result and condition. Excellent manner with patients and very friendly.
He was very thorough and explained things well. Sadly I had to sit and wait unsure whether I had been forgotten for 40 minutes which I heard is standard. It would have been nice to have known this would happen.
I really like Dr. Haq. He's very personable and I feel very comfortable seeing him.
Dr. Haq is AMAZING!!! He's very thorough, and knowledgeable. He explains things in a way I can understand, and he's really good about suggesting things I can try to help me with any issues I might have. Unfortunately, as I stated before, he was double booked, so he had to attend to another patient while I was getting my eyes dilated, and didn't return for 20 minutes, again not cool, but it's not his fault, it's the hospitals, you tend to treat, or mistreat, your doctors, demanding that they see too many patients at once, like we're on a conveyor belt, but they're only human, and can only do so much at once, it isn't fair to them, nor your patients!!!
So clear
Dr. Haq is the best eye care provider I've ever had. He takes time to listen, explain and give resources to patients. I never feel rushed or like a number. Thanks Dr. Haq!
Dr Haq was very good as always and my cancer said he did a thorough job of filling out exam sheet which they don't always see.
Dr. Haq is awesome.
Nice
Very good
Very professional and helpful! Very impressed with everyone!
Always good.
Dr Haq is awesome. Both personally and medically. I didn't see a nurse or assistant, just him.
Dr. Haq is fantastic and I've already recommended him to others. I genuinely appreciate the time he takes to answer all my questions and the level of detail he provides in his responses. I've never felt rushed or discouraged from voicing questions.
