About me
Dr. Shazib Haq, grew up in Southern California, spending a few years in the UK as well. He attended UC Davis and graduated with a BS in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. He then attended UC Berkeley School of Optometry for his doctorate degree. Next, Dr. Haq completed a one year residency at the Baltimore VA, where he gained significant experience managing eye disease. He also had the opportunity to rotate through subspecialties at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, gaining experience in the cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, and retina services. Following this experience, he added on a second post-graduate year of training, something that few optometrists do at the Casey Eye Institute specializing in Medical Contact Lenses.
From these unique experiences, Dr. Haq is well-versed in ocular disease and practices full-scope medical optometry. He sees patients with a variety of conditions, for vison and medical eye exams, as well as fitting standard and medical contact lenses. He also sees pediatric patients, and can perform myopia management care.
Dr. Haq lives with his wife and their dog in Portland. He loves to try new restaurants and hiking trails and would love your recommendations!

Explained things well, used layman's terms and answered questions. I didn't feel like he was rushing to get on to the next patient.

Great doctor!
I have seen Dr. Haq a number of times now so I feel that he knows me and my issues. At my first visit with him three years ago, he spotted a potentially serious issue in my right eye and referred me to the retina clinic, where the problem is being monitored. Dr. Haq Is very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to talk to. He listens and spends sufficient time.
He is a wonderfully well versed Dr. Kind compassionate and knowledgeable.
Easy to work with upbeat and efficient
I always had excellent treatment.
The doctor was great, but the waiting time was so long after the initial checkup. It's took about 25 minutes to finish all initial checkup, then wait for 30 minutes to meet my doctor and spent time only 15 minutes. He seemed very busy. However, he tried to listen to me and cover my problems as much as he could.
Very caring and helpful
Dr. Haq was timely, very knowledgeable and attentive-answered all my concerns and explained all issues that I face, with possible solutions. Very efficient without feeling of being rushed through. I'm very grateful for his care.
Highly recommend Dr. Haq

Dr Haq explains it well
Dr Haq is so kind and smart. Just a gem of a man.. I trust him implicitly
Dr. Haq took the time to answer all of my questions. He also raised future medical issues and remedies. He was very patient in addressing some of my concerns.
Very smart, knows what he is doing
Dr. Haq is aware of my condition and read up.He was able to do an exam, and educate me on other instances where patients will suffer similar symptoms but recover quite well.I'll follow up with messages. He monitors MtChart.
Well informed about my chart and history and bridged my eye health with other issues.
Dr. Haq is very thorough and professional. He is efficient, but not abrupt. I like how he explains exactly what he is doing and looking for. He remembers the last conversation we had, even though it was a year ago. He seems interested in me as a person, which is refreshing.
He is so amazing and kind. Doctor Haq Is one of the best doctors i've ever had.He helps me so much.
