About me

Thank you for visiting my homepage. I sincerely love being an Ob/Gyn! I cannot imagine practicing any other field of medicine. Being an Ob/Gyn allows me to partner with my patients every day. It is a privilege to teach a woman about her menstrual cycle, the importance of regular gyn care and pap smears, and empowering her with birth control when the time is right. It is an honor to share the adventure of pregnancy with my patients and their partners. Together, my patients and I continue to experience the pleasures and frustrations of menopause. Additionally, I offer my patients gynecologic surgery services from simple to complex as the need arises.

Since 2016 I have served as Director of Gynecology for the OHSU Transgender Health Program. It has been my absolute pleasure and honor to provide affirming care for transgender and gender nonconforming patients in a safe and positive environment.

I was born and raised in San Jose, CA. My parents were both teachers and dedicated their lives to multicultural education. My mother was originally from Grants Pass, OR and taught me to love the great outdoors. My father is Mexican-American, and our home was a bustling hub of international students that were part of my family’s exchange programs to Mexico and Japan. I attended Yale University and received a degree in psychobiology and had a special interest in sculpture. After living briefly in Spain, I attended MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia where I met my wonderful husband who is a perinatologist and geneticist. I did my Ob/Gyn residency at Kaiser Oakland and then stayed on as staff for 5 years before deciding to move north to the beautiful pacific northwest. We have 2 young children who are a joy and keep us busy! My brother is a professional photographer in the Bay Area, and my family continues to live in San Jose. In my spare time, I enjoy flowers, travel, art, and spending time with friends and family.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
