About me

Dr. Joycelyn Niimi grew up in Hawaii, attended the University of Washington for her undergraduate studies, then went to the University of California - Berkeley to complete her doctor of optometry degree. She joined Comprehensive Ophthalmology at Casey Eye Institute in 2015. She strives to improve and preserve the gift of sight through practicing optometry. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new activities with family and friends.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Before I forget - my rating of "Nurse/Assistant" retains to the technician who performed the photographic examination my eyes.Dr. Niimi is everything one could hope for in a health care provider: knowledgeable, skilled, extremely thorough, a clear communicator, and a genuinely kind and considerate person. She evinced an authentic concern for my wellbeing, explained the condition I'm dealing with (intra-ocular hypertension and resultant nerve deterioration), and presented me with the treatment choices. That's the way it should be done.

  2. Dr. Niimi is exceptional in every sense - thorough, articulate, compassionate, and funny. I feel very fortunate to have her caring for me.

  10. Very personable , remembers your last interactions and asks how you are feeling not just physically but overall. Clinician is honest and gives you straight forward information but is also kind.

  11. Dr. Nimi is very pleasant ophthalmologist. She is very knowledgeable, and does an excellent job in explaining what I need to do to maintain eye health.

The woman at the front desk was texting on her phone when I arrived. It was noon so maybe she was just covering lunch time
