About me

Dr. Schindler's current clinical interests include voice disorders in both professional and non-professional voice users, swallowing disorders, breathing and upper airway disorders, and cancer of the upper aerodigestive tract. His research interests include molecular diagnosis and management of early vocal fold cancers, treatment of spasmodic dysphonia and other neurologic voice disorders, and hoarseness in association with laryngopharyngeal reflux.

  9. No one loves to have surgery. Or the bills that come with it. But I LOVE the care I receive at OHSU, and I fully trust Dr. Schindler, his staff, and the OHSU crew every step of my journey every time I undergo this procedure. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

  10. Dr. Schindler is awesome. He's experienced, knowledgeable, professional, very reassuring, and delightfully personable. He takes the time to explain treatments and procedures in detail, including possible side effects and symptoms, in the process making the patient feel very comfortable and relaxed.

  11. Due to a complication during the surgery, the planned procedure was not completed. I was grateful Dr. Schindler gave me his phone number to call if I had questions or concerns.

Couldn't be happier with Dr. Joshua Schindler, he was kind and respectful, professional, competent, calm, and he was also funny which seems rare for surgeons (also entirely understandable I think you have to be a little Type A to have a job like this). He made me feel at ease and gave me a comprehensive breakdown of the surgery and what to expect from the recovery process.

  13. I have gotten progressively worse as we have struggled to find an appt time that worked for both of us, but once we got together Dr. Schindler worked his usual magic and we developed a treatment plan to get us back on track!!

  15. I love that Dr Schindler and staff have been very honest with me. My throat condition is permanent and the surgery to repair it would be risky at my age. And he said he couldn't say that it would make things better. Worse, yes, but better; probably not. Sarah helped me with breathing exercises which improved my voice a bit. There was even live entertainment in the form of 2 hawks who circled around outside the windows doing a beautiful sky ballet. Other than having my throat scoped, the entire visit was pleasant!
