Insurance
Before scheduling an appointment
- Check your network. If you have health insurance, call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
- Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.
If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Dr. Purnell is a great doctor! He listens and explains things in a manner that is easy to understand. He seemed genuinely concerned about my well being. He was very encouraging!
Dr Purnell is the best Dr ever.
The best doctor.
Dr. Purnell is extremely knowledgeable, applies what he knows to benefit the patient and keeps the patients interests first in all decisions. He is the example physician that all physicians should strive to be!
My doctor was incredibly kind, engaging and personable! He presented information that was easy to understand and gave me hope that my present condition will improve. I was blown away with happiness after my office call. So satisfied!!!
Dr Purnell has been a life saver for me. He listens and doesn't judge me by what he sees on the outside. He takes the time to find and explain things. If it wasn't for him I would have never had further testing done on something that has turned out to be somewhat serious medical conditions where as other Dr.'s would just mention what they were observing at the moment but never went further or said it needed to be looked at further. I am grateful for him.
Dr. Purnell always listens closely to my concerns and answers my questions. He is kind and helps me understand things fully.
Excellent doctor who is extremely knowledgeable, provided easy to understand health and treatment information. Also takes the time to listen and genuinely care.
Superior explanations and opportunities to ask clarifying questions. The doctor's expertise is very confidence building.
Dr. Purnell was punctual, professional, knowledgeable and very cordial. He is a wonderful physician.
I was encouraged by what I was learning. Thoughtful explanation. I was sad with a medical political comment made by the clinician. Made me uncertain of his integrity.
Even though the wait to get an appointment is long, the staff were great, the Dr explained things in a way that I could understand and retain and didnt just rattle off a bunch of medical jargon. He was very caring and even wanted to know how I felt about how the appt went.
Very caring and listened Carefully and Exhibited compassion and concern
Excellent visit about a complex problem which Dr Purnell explained very well and also provided a plan of action.
Dr Purnell was wonderful. He explained everything in a way you could understand. Feel very comfortable trusting him for medical care
Dr. Purnell was empathetic, curious, engaged and present, all the things a doctor should be. I walked away feeling heard and cared for, with a clear idea of how I wanted to proceed with managing my condition. Excellent care.
Very competent
The appointment went well.
He is a great and caring doctor!
Everything was on time and a proper amount of time was dedicated to my appointment.
Dr. Purnell is an extremely knowledge clinician. He has had some excellent recommendations In the changes to my medications.
Dr. Purnell listens attentively and considers my concerns
Great. Caring - very informative, addressed concerns across a spectrum, not just narrowly focused
Honestly, my time with Doctor prunell. Was the best experience I've ever had with a Doctor he was fantastic. Took the time to understand my concern. Address my needs and structure. A aggressive plan to deal with my situation. I could not be happier huge. Thank you to doctor purnell
All excellent
Dr Purnell is personable and professional. He provided a great deal of information and multiple options for treatment. He was upfront about side effects , ramifications and costs.
Dr. Purnell is a very caring doctor who listens closely. He is my favorite doctor!
Dr Purnell speaks to me so I can understand what he's talking about. He offers suggestions, solutions and offers support by utilizing MyChart as well as if I have any questions I can call & talk to the nurse and she will find out whatever from the Dr and get back to me. I don't feel like I'm alone in my rare disease problems. He has a great bedside manner and I appreciate that bc some Dr's I've had don't which makes having a Dr patient relationship awful. I wish I could have him as my pcp, lol. He's personable & I don't dread my appts with him like I do with some other Dr's I've been too.
Dr. Purnell is wonderfulalways caring & concerned& listens carefully.
Short, pleasant to the point
