About me

I am a heart rhythm cardiologist who treats patients with a variety of conditions, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardias and ventricular arrhythmias. For patients that require an implantable pacemaker or defibrillator, I am experienced in placement as well as extraction of these devices. I also have a special interest in management of abnormal heart rhythms in competitive, recreational and tactical athletes.

I currently run the OHSU Sports Electrophysiology program where we provide care for athletes and individuals of all abilities who enjoy exercise with abnormal heart rhythms. We provide comprehensive sports cardiology care for multiple teams and organizations throughout the state including the University of Portland Pilots, Portland State Vikings, Oregon State Beavers, University of Oregon Ducks, Portland Winterhawks, Portland Fire & Rescue, and the Portland Police Bureau. Additionally, I serve as associate program director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, where I’m committed to education and mentorship.

On a personal note, I use my prior experiences as a patient myself and being a caregiver for my father to provide the most thoughtful holistic patient centered care possible. I strive to make sure patients fully understand all the treatment options and to help them make the best decision for themselves and one that they feel good about.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, cheering on my sports teams, international travel as well as exploring the local wonders of the Pacific Northwest with my wife, daughter and rescue pup.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.

Visit our billing and insurance page for more information.
