About me

Dr. Emily Mitchell is an internal medicine intern focusing on primary care. She seeks to create lasting relationships with patients to better serve their health needs. Dr. Mitchell does this through listening, honesty, mutual learning and humor. She gets to know patients beyond their medical histories.

She says about her approach to patient care, “I believe in the power of preventative care and a less-is-more approach to health.”

Dr. Mitchell has done research into telemedicine in urban and rural Oregon, incorporating community health workers into primary care practices, and the potentially protective association between breastfeeding and strokes.

When she’s not at work, she loves to fill her days with gardening, cooking, hosting gatherings for friends and family, hiking, camping, photography, reading fiction and poetry and contemplating life with her cat, Helen.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.
