About me

Carrie Vieira is a board-certified Physician Assistant with a Specialty Certification in Psychiatry.

Carrie has always been interested in people and the way the mind works. Throughout her personal life and 15 years in family medicine, she witnessed the significant impact mental health has on a person’s physical health, relationships, work, and life goals and elected to pursue a Specialty Certification in Psychiatry. She is excited to improve access to mental health care through the OHSU Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic.

She believes in clear and open communication along with a trauma-informed approach in order to build a trusting and healing therapeutic partnership. She empowers individuals to be active participants in their care to make healthy lifestyle changes, challenge their expectations and thought processes, and expand their knowledge of their diagnoses and treatment options.
Carrie received her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from OHSU in 2007 and was a primary care provider at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho in Boise (2007-2009) and then Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles (2009-2022) prior to coming to OHSU in January 2022.

Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the Columbia River Gorge with her partner, two kids and fur child. Prior to having kids, she enjoyed rock climbing throughout the East Coast, Ski Patrolling in Idaho, and blocking for the Gorge Roller Derby team in the Columbia River Gorge. Since having kids, she enjoys hiking, gardening and creating memories with family and friends.
