About me

Dr. Pierce specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of all forms of memory loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and dementia with Lewy Bodies/Parkinson’s disease dementia. She is focused on the early detection of memory changes, and uses advanced diagnostic techniques to make an accurate diagnosis. These diagnostic techniques may include detailed cognitive testing, genetic testing, cerebrospinal fluid analysis, MRI imaging, and PET imaging.

Dr. Pierce will develop a treatment plan with you, which may include close monitoring, lifestyle intervention, and medications. Patients will be informed of ongoing clinical trials and research for Alzheimer’s disease prevention and treatment in the OHSU Layton Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Center. 

Dr. Pierce is glad to return to her home state of Oregon after many years away in California and New York.  In her spare time, she enjoys classical music, hiking, and yoga.

  1. Per my request Dr. Pierce spent time to talk to me alone so I can speak to her about my concerns for my mother and how dementia has affected the family. She was very understanding and showed great empathy and helped us navigate though this very hard time of dealing with mother diagnosed with early dementia.

  10. My exam and discussion during the appointment was the best of my life so far as a very old man can remember. Dr. Pierce gave me a remarkably thorough exam. Despite the long duration of the exam, it was extremely pleasant and interesting. This doctor is a remarkable person, very very smart and very pleasant, a somewhat rare combination.

  14. It was really great! She took my concerns seriously and did a through assessment even though my ability to explain my concerns were not expressed well. She explained what tests she was doing and let me know as we progressed how I was doing. She explained everything very simply and clearly at the end and provided me with a number of followup tests to consider and explained which ones she felt were higher or lower priority. She was one and supportive throughout.

Her guidance through this process is so very much appreciated and her willingness to help us get the next tests done In a timely way has made us feel like we are not alone In this journey of what's to come.

She explained everything clearly, and when I asked for clarification re: my husband's diagnosis or tests, she was very patient and confirmed that I understood her explanation. She was the same way with my husband's repeated questions, and gave him clear directions. She also has a very friendly, concerned manner, while giving her patients the utmost confidence in her expertise.
