Current Pediatric Endocrinology Fellows

Hayley Baines, M.D. - Third Year Fellow

Hayley Baines, M.D.

Hayley Baines traded the Southwest for the Pacific Northwest, joining our fellowship program in July 2016 after completing pediatric residency and a chief resident year at Phoenix Children's Hospital and Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. She knew she wanted to be a pediatric endocrinologist on the first day of medical school at UC San Diego and completed a research project looking at insulin resistance in Fox01 haploinsufficient mice while in medical school. During residency she investigated the quality of nutritional counseling provided by pediatric residents during well child checks leading to an interest in quality improvement. She fostered a growing interest in medical education during her chief year. Originally from New Zealand and a traveler at heart, Hayley is already enjoying exploring the Portland area and the Pacific Northwest, particularly learning to stay in the boat while white water rafting.

Luong Doan, M.D. - Second Year Fellow

Luong Doan, M.D.

Lu Doan grew up in Nebraska and completed medical school there at the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine. After graduation he then moved out to Ohio and completed his pediatric residency at Akron Children's Hospital. During residency he developed an insulin calculator for the program prompting interest in quality improvement. Also during Residency, he did research with puberty suppression and plans to pursue further research with growth, puberty, and bone disorders. He is very happy to be in the Pacific Northwest and to live in a city that is bike friendly. In his spare time he enjoys eating, biking, playing with the family dog, and practicing martial arts.

Timothy Livett, M.D. - First Year Fellow

Timothy Livett started his education in molecular biology at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. While studying there he developed an interest in the practical application and understanding of molecular pathways. This interest persisted through his medical education, with an additional year spent researching the use of stem cells in dermatological disorders at the University of Minnesota. He recently completed his pediatric residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus Ohio where he worked on research on the NICU application of antimicrobials. He enjoys working on projects around his home, gardening, and spending time with his family and their two dogs.
