About me

Michele Megregian specializes in midwifery care and general ob-gyn care. She is bilingual (English/Spanish) and is interested in community health, ethics, and shared decision-making. Michele has practiced midwifery in a variety of settings, including public health clinics, community health centers, hospital-based practices, and homebirth. After practicing midwifery for 11 years in the Chicago, Illinois area, Michele moved to Portland in 2008. She completed her PhD in Ethics at Maastricht University, Netherlands, with a concentration in ethics, shared decision-making and ethics education for midwifery students.

Michele believes in holistic care for individuals and the members of their families, across the lifespan. She values working with individuals within the context of their lives and honoring their transformative experiences.

She has fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest, and in her leisure time, Michele enjoys the region's rivers, mountains and moss, and can be found cross-country skiing at Mt. Hood, hiking the Columbia Gorge, and paddling the Willamette River with her partner.

Pregnancy and childbirth philosophy:

"My goal is to be present with a person, throughout their birth experience, and through respect, dignity, compassion, and excellent medical care, foster the normal birthing process."

Outside activities: Michele is a trainer for Nexplanon, the only FDA-approved contraceptive implant approved in the United States. She does receive compensation from Organon to provide the FDA-required provider training for the insertion/removal/reinsertion of the contraceptive implant.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
