About me

Maya Ferdschneider is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate at OHSU Avel Gordly Center for Healing. She provides mental health and substance use treatment to those who are in need. Using mindfulness and somatic-based interventions, Ms. Ferdschneider works with clients to help them develop more self-awareness and live a better quality of life by acknowledging the impact of their experiences through a compassionate lens. She offers a process-oriented approach, which also employs creative interventions and psychoeducation to empower clients to facilitate change. 

Ms. Ferdschneider has facilitated psychoeducational groups, including groups that focus on trauma, mindfulness practice, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy interventions. She has also facilitated culturally specific groups and served on Diversity and Equity Inclusion Committee to ensure clients of all demographics are being properly served. 

Ms. Ferdschneider was born and raised in the Virgin Islands and hopes to help her community in dismantling stigmas of mental health and making mental health services more accessible and affordable.

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher.
