About me
Dr. Nelson earned her medical degree from the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont in 2021. She completed her General Psychiatry residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in 2025 and is honored to continue her work at OHSU as an attending psychiatrist on the Consult/Liaison Psychiatry team.
Dr. Nelson is committed to a patient-centered approach that upholds autonomy and dignity while prioritizing safety for both patients and care teams. She finds great meaning in teaching and mentoring trainees, and in working closely with multidisciplinary teams to guide the safe use of psychotropic medications, conduct thorough safety assessments, and coordinate thoughtful, individualized care. For Dr. Nelson, the most fulfilling aspect of her work is supporting patients through their hospital journey and helping them transition safely home.
Outside of work, she enjoys knitting sweaters and spending time with her cat, Junie.

Insurance
Before scheduling an appointment
- Check your network. If you have health insurance, call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
- Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.
If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.
