Joanna Adams is a physician assistant in the Department of Neurological Surgery and works in the Spine Center. Physician Assistants (PAs) are often referred to as mid-level providers. They are highly trained members of our neurological surgery health care team who practice medicine with the supervision of licensed physicians, providing patients with a wide range of services that would otherwise be performed by physicians.
Specific duties are defined by state regulation and practice setting, but include a variety of both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Utilizing a medical model of patient care, PAs are trained to: obtain medical histories, perform complete physical examinations and minor surgical procedures, diagnose illnesses, order and interpret routine diagnostic tests, develop treatment and management plans, suture wounds, set fractures, assist in surgery and provide education to patients regarding illness, health promotion and disease prevention. Joanna works directly with Dr. Chang, a neurosurgery spine surgeon, to treat and manage his surgical patients.Read more

Joanna it's probably one of the most thorough, kind, and caring professionals I have ever been to. She tells you exactly what's going on so she knows what needs to be done in order to continue getting well and she had a leave you that she was training with her and she thoroughly trained her. I mean it was insisted that can watch me. I was completely impressed with Joanna and continue to be thanks very much.

Joanna was delightful. She explained the situation to me and to my children. So they understood she was encouraging, made me feel like what I was going through was normal, and that I was healthy and to continue on. She showed us pictures in the screws in my back. It helped me, it helped my grand children feel that you know, I was okay and would continue to improve. Her mannerisms are heartfelt and I look forward to seeing her again in three months.
