About me

Cara Shina is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner who specializes in caring for infants and children with heart problems. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Cara was an ICU nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She went on to practice as a nurse practitioner in Seattle Children’s Heart Center; with Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and in WVU Medicine Children’s Heart Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. She is elated to be back in the Pacific Northwest. Cara has a special interest in caring for infants and children with single ventricle heart defects and is part of the Single Ventricle Team at Doernbecher.

Outside of work, Cara loves spending time with her husband, son and two pugs. She also loves outdoor activities including camping, hiking, kayaking and spending time on the coast.
