About me

I am a pediatrician who cares for children with long-term breathing problems like chronic respiratory failure, neuromuscular lung disease and asthma. I use many kinds of treatments including inhaled medicines, daily airway treatments to help the lungs open and clear mucus, breathing support without a ventilator, and tracheostomy or invasive ventilation. I also perform bronchoscopy, a procedure that uses a small camera to look inside the airways and check for infection.

I enjoy teaching children and their families how other health conditions affect their lungs. I work with them to create care plans that fit their daily lives, use the latest research, and improve both quality of life and long-term lung function. My goal is to help kids take part in the activities that bring them joy without being held back by lung disease.

I grew up in Oregon and spent the last ten years training in the Southeastern United States as a pediatric lung specialist. I am excited to return home to OHSU. I am especially interested in how neuromuscular disorders, such as muscular dystrophies, affect breathing and how better lung care can help patients live longer and feel better. I also treat children with other causes of chronic breathing problems, as well as chronic cough and asthma.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, watching sports, and visiting the Oregon Coast to hike and search for agates. I also love spending time with my family enjoying fresh fruit, farmers markets and festivals around Oregon.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.
