About me

Emma grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. After college, she spent several years working as an outdoor educator with Outward Bound and NOLS, leading backpacking and canoeing expeditions in Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming. Hoping to put her EMT training to use during the COVID-19 pandemic, Emma began working for a Montana county health department, helping rural community members access telehealth services. Through this work, Emma became interested in the ways healthcare access shapes individual and community well-being, ultimately inspiring her to pursue medicine. She attended medical school at the University of North Dakota, where she participated in a rural training track and completed her third year rotations at a rural critical access hospital. During medical school, Emma founded her school’s chapter of Medical Students for Choice and advocated for laws protecting abortion access in North Dakota. As a fourth year medical student, Emma was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and received the UND Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Senior Award. Outside of medicine, Emma enjoys canoeing and backpacking, running, celebrity gossip, and going on adventures with her partner and their two dogs.

Insurance

Before scheduling an appointment

  1. Check your network. If you have health insurance,  call your company to find out if the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is part of your network.
  2. Ask what you will pay. Your insurance company can tell you what your costs are likely to be.

If you schedule an appointment and your health insurance does not include OHSU Health, you may have to pay more than if you go to a provider in your insurance network.
