Help transform cancer care, research and outcomes

The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute’s one-year Administrative Fellowship will immerse you in academic healthcare leadership at one of the nation’s leading cancer centers.

You’ll join senior Knight leaders seeking to end cancer as we know it, with the support of a historic $2 billion gift. Projects will span clinical operations, research administration, community oncology partnerships, ambulatory oncology services and cancer network development.

Fellowship objectives

You will gain expertise in oncology services, healthcare strategy, business development and project management. Your work will reflect the Knight’s mission to improve cancer prevention, detection and treatment, as well as your professional interests.

Our goal is for you to:

• Work regularly with senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams on complex challenges in oncology care
• Become familiar with innovative approaches to care, groundbreaking research and community projects
• Learn how to improve operations, processes and efficiency for better care and patient outcomes
• Take part in regular mentorship meetings, leadership rounding and professional development
• Be a partner in transforming cancer care and outcomes at Oregon’s only academic health center

How to apply

Apply through the National Administrative Fellowship Centralized Application Service.

You must have or be in the final year of a master’s degree by the start of the fellowship. Your degree must be an M.H.A., M.H.S.A., M.B.A., M.P.H. or a master’s in a related field. The degree must be from an accredited program, preferably by CAHME or AUPHA.

You must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Follow the application requirements, which include:

• A cover letter
• A one-page resume
• A two-page personal statement

Dates

For the July 2027 to June 2028 fellowship, you must submit your application by 8:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time/11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026.

The selection process will consist of three rounds of interviews. If you’re selected to move forward, you’ll receive more details.

Offers will be extended in October 2026.

Fellowship team

The fellowship’s preceptor and mentors provide insight into:

• Executive decision-making
• Cancer service line strategy and operations
• Cross-functional leadership
• Academic health center complexity

The preceptor is the primary fellowship leader. The preceptor provides strategic direction and mentorship for projects and professional development.

Mentors provide subject matter expertise and career guidance, and will help you understand the organization.
