Adult Psychiatry Residency Program Overview

The OHSU Psychiatry Residency Training program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and meets the requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. We have eight positions per class.

Mission Statement

Our mission in the OHSU General Adult Psychiatry Training Program is to engage physicians in becoming outstanding academic and community psychiatrists, advocates for mental health and leaders in medicine. Our residents train within a department rich in history that promotes a community of inquiry and lifelong learning bounded by interprofessional collaboration, mentorship, critical thinking and scientific evidence. Our training shall always be in the service of providing state-of-the-art care to our patients who come from all backgrounds. We are committed to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.

The Residency Program of the Department of Psychiatry at Oregon Health and Science University adheres to the basic belief that human beings exist in biological, social and cultural matrices which directly affect their sense of psychological well-being. With this firmly in mind, the training program emphasizes clinical proficiency in assessing and intervening within these matrices for the benefit of patients. Insights thus gained have led graduates to become leaders in their community as psychiatric clinicians and academicians.
