Please join Kim Burchiel, MD and Suzie Bergman, DDS as they bring together facial pain experts from around the region. 

This one-day symposium will be directed at physicians, surgeons, dentists, advanced practice providers (Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners), physical and occupational therapists, and other care providers who are interested in enhanced diagnosis and care for their patients with facial pains and corresponding disorders.

Course Goals and Objectives

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the anatomy and pathophysiology of trigeminal neuralgia (TN)
  2. Identify unique characteristics of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and muscles of mastication
  3. Recognize the multifactorial etiology of TMD
  4. Consider the diagnosis of TN based on the patient’s history
  5. Consider the diagnosis of TMD based on the patient’s history
  6. Differentiate TN and TMD by history and physical exam
  7. Understand the medical and surgical treatment of TN
  8. Identify the various healthcare professionals that may be consulted for an interdisciplinary approach to TMD
