OHSU has been at the forefront of resident and fellow education in the field of functional neurosurgery for a number of years. In 2016, the OHSU Brain Institute successfully launched the inaugural Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery (SFN) course. This intensive didactics and hands-on training course was designed to provide trainees in the fields of neurosurgery and neurology with a greater knowledge base, as well as opportunities to network with fellow neurosurgeons and neurologists, national leaders in the sub-specialty, and industry supporters. Given the breadth and depth of practice and expertise at OHSU in the field of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, we are ideally suited to organize such a course.
Over the past 6 years, we have been able to expand our curriculum, faculty roster, and number of available spots for learners and we look forward to continued expansion of this course. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have decided to hold the 2021 SFN course virtually in order to ensure the health and safety of our attendees, faculty, staff, and industry supporters. We have also decided to make this course more widely available in its virtual format. Registration for the 2021 SFN course is open to all interested participants, including junior and senior residents, fellows, and faculty.
Course Goals and Objectives
- Stimulate interest in this field of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.
- Provide focused, comprehensive knowledge to advanced neurosurgical and neurology trainees with a specific interest in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.
- Create a collaborative community of functional neurosurgeons and neurologists.
- Offer hands-on opportunities and real-life application of materials learned.
- Allow opportunity for trainees to network with eminent leaders in the field.
The 2021 Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery course will take place virtually on Thursday, April 1 - Friday, April 2, 2021. Click on the link below to view the most recent course agenda, as well as agendas from previous years' courses.
Please note that all of the times listed in the agenda are in Pacific Standard Time.
Due to the fact that we will be hosting the course virtually this year, the OHSU Brain Institute is pleased to announce that we will be opening registration to all interested participants for the 2021 Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery course, including junior and senior residents, fellows, and faculty.
As always, we are committed to keeping this course available to participants at no cost. In order to register for this course, please sign up via the links below:
