Join us for this special, in-person session with guest speaker Scott Finnie, Ph.D., Senior Faculty member of Eastern Washington University’s Africana Studies, and the executive director of its race and cultural studies program. Dr. Finnie is the recipient of more than 20 awards for excellence in teaching, leadership, civil rights and mentoring.

During this in-person presentation, "The Dynamics of Cultural Humility and Pillars of Prejudice and Discrimination: That Pathway to Connecting with Diverse Learners," Dr. Finnie will address:

  • Discerning the dynamics of cultural humility
  • The five major pillars of prejudice and discrimination
  • The quiet trauma of Eurocentrism
  • The silent and invisible role of perspective
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion in action

For those interested in further study, a suggested reading would be, “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack,” by Peggy McIntosh.
