About me

Dr. Nima Nabavizadeh is an Associate Professor of Radiation Medicine at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where he holds multiple roles in patient care, cutting-edge research and medical education.  With a specialization in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, lymphomas and hematologic malignancies, he is known for his compassionate and understandable approach to patient care and his commitment to delivering state-of-the-art radiation therapy, tailored to each patient's unique needs. 

Dr. Nabavizadeh's commitment to advancing cancer care extends beyond clinical practice. In his role as the Chief Medical Officer within the Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center (CEDAR) at OHSU, he is at the forefront of innovative early detection research initiatives. He serves as the Principal Investigator for a multitude of cancer early detection clinical trials, exploring novel strategies and technologies for identifying cancer at its earliest stages. 

As the Radiation Oncology Residency Program Director at OHSU, Dr. Nabavizadeh plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of radiation oncology. He is responsible for mentoring and educating the next generation of radiation oncologists, ensuring that they receive the highest level of training and exposure to diverse clinical scenarios. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Nabavizadeh has garnered recognition for his contributions to the field of radiation oncology. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, presented at national and international conferences, and received grants that underscore his dedication to patient care, resident education and innovative research.

Dr. Nabavizadeh was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma, the home of the University of Oklahoma and where he majored in Mechanical Engineering.  Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Nabavizadeh's heart lies with the great outdoors. His companion for these escapades is a vintage 1990 VW campervan, which has been transformed into a symbol of wanderlust and family adventures.  As a hands-on enthusiast, he spends his downtime working on the mechanical intricacies of the campervan, ensuring that it's always ready for the next adventure.
