Activity details
Effective scaffolding turns social interaction and co-constructed knowledge into powerful engines for learning. Anchored in Lev Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD)—the gap between what learners can do independently and what they can accomplish with guidance (Wass & Golding, 2014)—this workshop translates theory into practical strategies. You’ll learn to design equitable, high-impact learning experiences, spot where ZPD already appears in your teaching, and leave with strategies to stretch students’ understanding without overwhelming them.
Led by Dr. Lina Gomaa, Assistant Professor, Teaching and Learning Center
Presented in collaboration with the Office of Educational Improvement and Innovation.
