Marilyn B. Gran-Moravec, MSN, RN (she/her)

  • Assistant Professor, School of Nursing

Biography

I began my nursing career at the University of Washington Medical Center.  Since that time, I have practiced nursing across the lifespan, providing care from birth through end-of-life in a variety of acute care, public health and community-based settings. Early work in urban health systems, followed by a transition to practice in a rural Oregon community, deepened my awareness of the significant health disparities faced by rural populations. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to rural health, population health, and community-based practice.

I have a strong interest in global health and have volunteered in Tanzania and Kenya, where my work focused on education and capacity-building in resource-limited settings. Earlier in my career, I worked with the Perinatal Rescue Network and remain committed to reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality by educating  and working with community health care workers.

As a faculty member, I teach Population Health. I also lead the OHSU Street Nursing Team in Klamath Falls, Oregon, which partners with local organizations to provide outreach and care to people experiencing homelessness. My teaching and clinical leadership are grounded in health equity, social drivers of health, and experiential learning. I am committed to preparing nurses to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and equitable care, with particular attention to the needs of rural and underserved communities.
